This notice explains how Sandi and Matshakaile uses personal information collected through this website. It is written for people who visit the site or send a message through the contact form, and is meant to meet the information duty in the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07].

What we collect
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, telephone number (if you give one), and message that you type in. That message is sent to the firm inbox at admin@smattorneys.co.zw so we can reply.
The firm’s web host may also keep ordinary server records (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. The public pages do not ask you to create an account, leave a comment, or upload a file. The site is not aimed at children, and we do not seek children’s personal information through it.
Why we use it and the lawful basis
We use contact-form details only to consider your enquiry and to reply. Under section 18 of the Act, that processing is on the basis that you sent the form (consent) and that we need the details to consider taking instructions or to answer you. We use hosting records because we have a legitimate interest in operating and protecting the website.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use the form for marketing lists.
Sensitive information
The form does not ask for sensitive personal information (for example health, criminal, or similar details). If you type that kind of information into the message box, we will treat it as given for this enquiry. Please do not send it through the website unless you intend the firm to see it. Once you are a client, other information you give the firm is handled as part of the professional relationship and is not governed only by this website notice.
Who we share it with and transfers outside Zimbabwe
The website is hosted on HostGator, whose systems are outside Zimbabwe. Messages go to the firm by email. The pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google (also outside Zimbabwe) may see that your browser requested those files. We do not pass form messages to advertisers.
A transfer of this kind is made because you chose to use the site or to send a message, so that we can host the pages and reply. If you become a client, any further transfers for a matter will be dealt with as part of that work.
Security
Access to website enquiries is limited to the firm. The site is hosted on HostGator and messages travel by email. We take the steps that are reasonable for a site of this kind. No method of transmission is completely secure.
Cookies
The public pages do not set marketing or advertising cookies, and Zimbabwe does not require a cookie-consent banner for a site used in this way. If someone logs into WordPress to edit the site, WordPress sets login cookies. Those are for the editors, not for visitors.
How long we keep it
We keep an enquiry for as long as we need it to deal with the matter, and then in line with the firm’s ordinary file-keeping. If no matter is opened, we do not keep the website message longer than we need it. Hosting records are kept only as long as the host retains logs.
Your rights
Subject to the Act, you may write to admin@smattorneys.co.zw to:
- ask what website information we hold about you (access);
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to delete an enquiry we do not need to keep for a legal or professional reason;
- object to our using website information about you, including for marketing (we do not use the form for marketing).
You may also complain to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), which is the data protection authority under the Act.
